Statewide Radio Coverage

Fleettalk by Rock, also known as System 219, is the largest NXDN Type-C trunking network in the world. Covering South Carolina and parts of North Carolina with more than 140 sites and nearly 1,000 channels. It delivers mobile coverage to over 99% of South Carolina, along with strong portable coverage in major metro areas such as Columbia, Charleston, and Greenville, while extending into Charlotte, North Carolina.

This system allows your radios to roam from site to site and talk across your county or the state.

System Reliability

Fleettalk delivers on the expectations that matter. The network is monitored around the clock from local, state-of-the-art Network Operations Centers. Generator status, RF performance, microwave links, and site telemetry are monitored by real technicians here in South Carolina. Reliability is defined by how the system performs in the field, not by marketing terms.

System Redundancy & Network

Fleettalk by Rock (System 219) is engineered for exceptional redundancy and reliability. Sites features battery backup and generators for power redundancy, while multiple diverse network paths, primarily microwave, with fiber, Starlink, and cellular modems as automatic backups, ensure continuous connectivity. The system has no single core or central site that could take the entire network down; each site operates independently, with overlapping coverage providing additional resilience. Our extensive microwave backbone spans from north of Charlotte, North Carolina, to Savannah, Georgia, and everywhere in between. We also maintain spare systems on hand for rapid replacement if needed. This robust, multi-layered approach is critical because ground-based internet and cellular services frequently fail, making the dedicated microwave network the key to maintaining uninterrupted radio system performance.

The Team Behind the System

Fleettalk by Rock is locally owned and operated. Our team includes people who have spent their careers in public safety and engineering. Together they bring more than 315 years of real-world experience, with over 200 of those years spent directly in public service. That kind of background is why the Fleettalk network performs the way it does when it matters most.

The Performance Speaks for Itself.

During Hurricane Helene in 2024, Fleettalk was recognized as the most reliable communications network in South Carolina. That level of reliability comes from the way the system is built. Fleettalk does not rely on traditional land-based interconnects. It operates on a statewide microwave network with both microwave and land-based redundant paths, and its decentralized architecture removes any single point of failure. There is no core, no need for site-trunking, and no scenario where one failed failure can take the system down.

System Growth

With 10% of counties (public safety) in South Carolina currently on Fleettalk - Fleettalk by Rock continues to grow rapidly. We are actively building new sites, adding more redundancy, and implementing upgrades every day. With over 10% of South Carolina’s counties already served by our system, we remain fully committed to investing in and expanding a more robust network that public safety depends on. We are building faster, and better— for you.

UHF over 800

Fleettalk by Rock’s 450 MHz UHF NXDN network delivers superior building penetration and greater coverage distance per site. Lower frequencies like 450 MHz travel farther and penetrate buildings, walls, and dense environments more effectively than higher frequencies such as 800 MHz. This is a major reason Fleettalk by Rock provides such consistent, reliable service across South Carolina as a true statewide network.
